I’ve always been the kind of person who likes to take something apart to try to put it back together just to figure out how it works. There are admittedly still a few of those “projects” strewn around my garage and across my desk at work. I enjoy building things, so it will come as no surprise that I started my career in civil and mechanical engineering. From there, I transitioned into computer graphics with a focus on film compositing and animation.
I fell in love with teaching about twenty-five years ago after the first “thank you” I received from a student after class. I spent a couple of decades teaching graduate and undergraduate courses at several south Florida colleges as well as being a department chair for varied academic programs such as math, science, animation, web development, audio and film production. Along the way, I’ve earned undergraduate degrees in economics, engineering, computer science, as well as an MFA in Film, and a doctoral degree in education. I most recently graduated from the National Art Educators Association School for Art Leaders program at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
I enjoy cooking, gardening, and spending time around creative thinkers, which is why the Art School is such a rewarding place to work. There is so much talent and camaraderie between the students, teachers, and staff at the Art School, so it feels like one big family every day. This family just happens to be full of extremely talented and supportive artists!
