Instructor, Xabier Frank

Specializes In:

Ceramics

I am Xabier Frank, a potter who is based in Lake Worth Beach Florida. In the course of the eight years I have been throwing the initial spark of interest that let me explore ceramics has grown into a career. My work is mainly of the utilitarian variety with some on the artistic side. My aim is to create ceramic pieces that are both functional and stylish that will be seen and used for many years to come.

Exploration for my work starts in the nature that surrounds my outdoor garden wheel studio. The heat, cold, day, night, rain, mosquitos, and wind all play a role in how I approach the process of making pots as I am placed in different frames of mind with each and adapt to what amount of work I can do that week which varies with the weather.

Amongst the sounds of distant chatter, dogs barking, the song of the birds, or a neighbor's cat passing through I find myself lost in my thoughts or work. My aim is for me to be able to pass down the knowledge I have gathered in order to give each student the confidence to sit down at the wheel and be able to create.
