Dr. Glenda Lubiner is a native of Montreal, Canada where she was influenced by her artist mother. She started doing small oil paintings at the age of 4, as she wasn’t old enough to go to school. Lubiner has lived in both Southern and Northern California before moving to Florida in 1989. She has her BA in Studio Art from University of California- Riverside, her MA in Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University (Belmont, California), and her EdD in Instructional Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She has been teaching art since the late 1990s and has taught in elementary school, middle school, and college. Lubiner was granted National Board Certification in 2003 and again in 2013.
In 2014, Lubiner was awarded Florida Art Educator of the Year from the Florida Art Education Association, where she was also on the governing board for six years as Elementary Division Chair, Middle School Division Chair, and District Assembly Chair. In addition to this, she has presented talks and workshops locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. She has also exhibited her work in Florida, California, and Montreal. For ten years, Lubiner wrote a monthly column for Arts and Activities Magazine, an international publication for art educators.
Lubiner currently teaches both art and drama at Franklin Academy Pembroke Pines, where she is the department chair and National Junior Art Honors Society Sponsor. She is also an adjunct professor at Broward College where she has taught for the past 25 years in the Fine Arts department. Her personal artwork consists of mixed media, printmaking, painting and drawing. Lubiner lives a full creative life with her daughter and her music teacher husband. In her spare time Lubiner loves to bake.
