During this fun filled week of creativity, we will make three dimensional things. We will use clay to make hats, fabric to make bowls and wood to make jewelry. Plan on mixing it up with materials and themes! We will also make plates and wind chimes as whole group lessons. If you can imagine it, we can brainstorm and create it. We will have a design studio style meeting and then give students free choice to design and create. Students will learn the techniques of Needle Felting, a textile material that is produced by pressing wool fibers together, while creating two-dimensional works such as landscapes and portraits. Simple embroidery stitches will be incorporated to embellish the two dimensional creations. The class will transition to needle felting three-dimensional realistic or imaginative animal creations. Students will be exposed to the historical and practical uses of felted objects and the artistic creations using felted wool.
