
Allow our hands on youth studio classes to guide your family through the informal and formal processes of artistic expression in a welcoming and supportive environment. Students are exposed to traditional and experimental techniques introducing foundational theory and technique progressing to advanced interpretive design. Your child will gain confidence through applying various artistic project themes interwoven with a grounding in art history and a study of the techniques and artwork of historical masters.

Colored Pencil Fun (Ages 10-12)

The Art of Needle Felting (Ages 10-12)

Students will learn the techniques of Needle Felting, a textile material that is produced by pressing wool fibers together, while creating two-dimensional works such as landscapes and portraits. Simple embroidery stitches will be incorporated to embellish the two dimensional creations. The class will transition to needle felting three-dimensional realistic or imaginative animal creations. Students will be exposed to the historical and practical uses of felted objects and the artistic creations using felted wool.

Wire, Wood, and More (Ages 6-7)

In this fun filled week we will design and build substantial sculptures from paper, cardboard, wood, wire and found objects. Some will be colorful. Others natural. Students will learn how to design and then build and make changes along the way. This offers both practical and imaginative opportunities to create. Artist inspiration includes Calder, Henry Moore, John Henry and Christopher Kurtz.
